MSK-115A-MS is a 4-in-1 compact hot sealer. It integrates the functions: Side Sealing; Purging; Vacuum Standing; and Vacuum Sealing.
The machine is compatible with the dry room and the glove box with Argon and Ntrigon atmosphere.
The vacuum level, the relative positive pressure level, the vacuum, and pressure times are adjustable.
The purging function will remove the oxygen and moisture in the chamber and helps the solid-state pouch cell batteries to form a better SEI layer during the first cycling.   It is a perfect lab tool for liquid, semi-solid-state, or solid-state pouch cell battery research, as well as metal-gas (eg: Li-O2, Li-CO2, Al-CO2) batteries.

SPECIFICATIONS:
Input Power
  • Single-phase 110 VAC or 208-240 VAC (selectable at Product Options), 50 / 60 Hz
  • 700 W power

    • Purging pressure and time, as well cycle time  ( -90KPa - 100Pa)
    • Sealing mode:  side / top-sealing without vacuum or Vacuum sealing
    • Sealing Temperature: 50 ~ 260ºC Max. ( +/- 2 ºC)  adjustable
    • Recommended temperature: 200 ℃ for top sealing die, and  160 ℃ for bottom sealing die
    • Vacuum standing time: 0 - 900 S Adjustable
    • Heated sealing time: 0 ~ 99 seconds adjustable (3 ~ 4 seconds recommended)
Back Panel

  • Inert gas port, compressive gas port, and vacuum ports are installed on the back panel
  • You need an air pump to operate ( optional, click Pic. 1 to order)
  • You need an inert gas tank to purge the chamber ( not included)
  • The vacuum pump is required for final sealing  ( optional, click pic 2 to order)
  • Plastic tubes are included for immediate use
  • Pic. 1Pic. 2
Vacuum Level
  • Vacuum range:  -95 ~ 0 kPa adjustable by digital vacuum meter
  • The vacuum pump is not included. Please click the picture to the left to order at MTI.
  • If you have your own pump with KF25 PORT, a Barbed fitting to KF-25 Adapter is included
  • The highest vacuum level is 10-2 torr by mechanical pump and 10-4-torr by turbopump
  • Click the picture to order a vacuum pump
Sealing Die
  • Max battery size:
    • Length ≤ 160 mm
    • Width ≤ 180 mm
    • Thickness ≤ 12 mm
  • Sealing width: 4 mm (The sealing width could be customizable)
  • Sealing length: ≤ 190 mm
  • Sealing evenness: ≤ 0.03 mm overlapping precision of top and bottom sealing dies
  • Sealing die type: Sealing blade with rubber buffer (soft-sealing)
Sealing Pressure

  • Pressure range: 0 ~ 7 kg/cm² adjustable. The vacuum chamber lid and sealing die need to be driven by compressed high-purity inert gasses with a recommended 60 psi pressure.
  • Consumption: ~ 0.1 L compressed air per sealing
  • Please use high purity inert gasses (Ar or N2), when operating in the glove box. Using Air Compressor driven when operating outside the glove box.
  • Please note that the air compressor is not included and is not recommended for use in the glove box.
  • Attention: If a gas cylinder is used instead of an air compressor(pic2), a two-stage pressure regulator(pic1) must be installed on the gas cylinder to limit the pressure within the required working range for safe operation. Click here to learn about the installation of a gas regulator.

Application Notes
  • Please wear gloves to operate the machine.
  • Beware of the automatic vacuum chamber lid. Only one operator is allowed for this equipment.
  • Please clean the sealing dies after each use. Clean the sealing die after it has cooled down to avoid corrosion by the electrolyte.
  • Check the level and smoothness of the sealing die surface every week. If there is serious damage to the sealing die, please contact MTI to order a replacement.
  • Lubricate the cylinder every week
  • Check the screws in sealing dies and stage every month. Make sure they are tightened.
  • The compact design enables the operation inside the glove box with an Argon atmosphere where Lithium-Sulfur, Lithium Air, Lithium Solid-State, or Li-ion half cell will be assembled. Please click the images below to understand these technologies and how it fits in a glove box.
